MILLAIS, Sir John Everett, autographs, letters, documents, manuscripts
The image is of the photogravure only.

MILLAIS, Sir John Everett (1829-1896). Painter.
Autograph Letter Signed on a card to an unnamed correspondent, 2 Palace Gate, Kensington, 7 August 1887. Together with the fine photogravure of his portrait of James C Hook, to which the letter refers (irregularly dust-stained).
'Many thanks for the admirable etched photogravure of Hooks portrait. ...'
The portrait by Millais (1882) of his fellow artist and friend, James Clarke Hook (1819-1907), is one of his finest works. The letter was once lightly attached to the corner of the etching, causing a light patch.
