POWYS, Llewelyn (1884-1939). Novelist, biographer and essayist.
Heavily corrected typescript of a short story, Shakespeare's Fairies, 9 pages 4to on separate sheets, signed at the end. The signature 'Llewelyn Powys' appears to have been substitued for another, perhaps a rejected pseudonym, which has been crossed out.
Powys suggests that 'in Dorset, even for the most obstinate mind, it is easy to believe in the existence of Shakespeare's fairies. He then embarks on what is in effect a celebration of the changing seasons in the rural countryside around his home in East Chaldon.
