Autograph Letter Signed in French to the English poet and critic Arthur Symons (1865-1945), 1 page 8vo with envelope (some tears in the folds), 12 May, postmarked 1890. Cancelling an appointment for the following Sunday, explaining that because of an indisposition he is 'obligé de fermer ma porte', and rearranging the visit of Symons and Ellis the following Monday. Symons, together with his friend Havelock Ellis, travelled to France in 1889 and 1890, where they met such sympathetic figures as Rodin, Mallarmé, Verlaine and Huysmans, as well as Coppée. £110 [No: 24651] |
