LISZT, Franz (1811-1886). Hungarian composer and pianist. Autograph Letter Signed to an unnamed correspondent, 2 pages 8vo (browned, torn in the folds, second sheet detached, evidence of tape), Pest, 19 January 1871. Offering to act as a reference for a post at the Geneva Conservatory, praising his seriousness and talent, and modestly claiming some influence despite not having been at the Conservatory for thirty years. Together with an autograph envelope addressed to "Herrn Musikdirector Th. Ratzenberger" in Wiesbaden and a head-and-shoulders cabinet-style photograph of the older Liszt. '... ...'The Geneva Conservatory had been established in 1835; its opening season had been marked by a free course given there by Liszt. [No: 5942] The image is of the second page of the letter.
