TYNDALL, John (1820-1893). Natural philosopher.
Autograph Letter Signed to Dr [R D] Bowles, 4 pages 8vo, Brieg, Switzerland, 27 August 1881. Thanking him for sending the British Medical Journal with the report of the Congress, attempting to determine the cause of his sore throat, and describing his treatment of a small boy with a scalded leg.
'... In one respect I think it must do good. It will probably put a hook in the nose of the antivivisectionist, and prevent our ignorant rulers from yielding to this agitation. Owen blew a very loud trumpet note at Folkestone. Altogether as regards medicine this has been a memorable year. ...'
