Autograph Letter Signed to Mrs [Lewis] Powles, a neighbour in Rye, 2 pages 8vo, Lamb House, Rye, 22 September 1938. Tentatively promising to contribute to a charity when she tells him what it is.
E.F. Benson served as mayor of Rye (the 'Tilling' of the Mapp and Lucia novels) between 1934 and 1937, living in Henry James's old house.
