PALGRAVE, Francis Turner (1824-1897). Poet & critic.
Autograph Letter Signed to (?Sir Henry Maxwell) Lyte, 2½ pages 8vo, 15 Chester Terrace, Regent's Park, 16 February 1888. Introducing and recommending Count Ugo Balzani, 'a Roman gentleman who is a genuine worker in the historico-antiquarian kingdom, over one province of which you preside'.
Balzani was indeed a genuine and recognized historian and scholar. He was given an honorary doctorate by the University of Oxford and was elected a fellow of the British Academy.
