SKEFFINGTON, Sir Lumley St George, Bt (1771-1850). Fop & playwright.
Autograph Letter (third person) to Collier (probably John Payne Collier, 1789-1883, literary editor and forger), 1 page 8vo (oblong), Lambeth Road, 8 September no year. Suggesting that Collier's 'interest which he feels for the Queen's Theatre' will induce him to print an enclosed article (no longer present).

Collier edited the Critical Review in 1816-1817 and was theatre critic for The Observer in the 1830s and 1840s. Though Skeffington had ceased writing plays himself in 1813 after being widely ridiculed for his efforts, his interest in the theatre did not wane.
