NEWBOLT, Sir Henry John (1862-1938). Poet and man of letters.
Five Autograph Letters Signed to Miss Farrar, his typist, 8 pages 8vo, Netherhampton House, Salisbury, 1915 to 1917 where dated. Various instructions with regard to the typing of the narrative of the Second Battle of Ypres, and of a masque, a libretto and a diary.
The 'Ypres narrative' was probably part of 'The Adventures of a Subaltern' (in 'Tales of the Great War', 1916). The masque, The Fourth of August was published in St George's Day and other poems, 1918.
