INOCULATION
Early 19th-century manuscript poem of 19 lines: Verses / Composed upon that Sublime Subject the Cowpock Preached by Mr Lyons', 1 page folio. Together with a letter from the author, John Gibson, to his friend Mr F Hopper, grocer of Dagger Lane, Hull, 23 September 1803, 2 pages folio (rather worn), on the same subject.
Gibson shows himself heavily against inoculation against Smallpox on religious grounds.
Jenner had first experimented with inoculation against Smallpox on 14 May 1796.
