CHARLES II (1630-1685). King of England. Letter Signed to Robert Heath, High Sheriff of Sussex, 1 page folio with address-leaf, given at Whitehall, 12 November 1672, countersigned by Henry Coventry. Giving Heath licence to visit the cities of London and Westminster. '... by the Laws of this Our Realme you are to make your Residence in that County [i.e. Sussex] during the time of that your charge; And forasmuch as Wee understand that you have divers occasions which require your presence in Our Cittys of London and Westminster, in regard whereof you have huymbly besought Us to grant you Licence to repaire to Our said Cittys when your said occasions shall call you thither: We graciously condescending to your Petic'on, and being confident that what favour Wee shall yeild you therein shall not tend to the neglect or hindrance of the publick service do hereby Licence you to repair to Our said Cittys ...'
