Touching on the importance of information being sent by consuls in the Levant concerning the outbreak of sickness among the horned cattle in the Turkish Dominions. Layard's correspondent is probably George Aust (d. 1829), at this time secretary of state for foreign affairs, the second husband of Sarah Murray (1744-1811), the travel writer. [No: 21157]
