DOYLE, Sir Arthur Conan (1859-1930). Creator of Sherlock Holmes. Autograph Letter Signed to General Enesy in Budapest, 2 pages small 4to, Windlesham, Crowborough, 18 May [1926]. Thanking him for his letter, and informing him of progress in spreading the message about spiritualism. '... I am endeavouring to get an eighth article added to the seven which already exist which should run like this "while recognising that God has sent his messengers to various nations under various names we, who share European culture, desire to affirm that we look upon the life and ethics of Jesus of Nazareth as an ideal of human contact." Such a declaration could be taken by nearly every philosophical Unitarian, and yet it would make a link between us and our more orthodox fellow citizens. ...'Conan Doyle wrote a two-volume book, 'A History of Spiritualism', in 1926.
