Recommending the Weblings' entertainment ('I can't come to London myself for it') and offering to take her out for a few hours some time. '... I shall be able to come & borrow you again for a few hours, though of course it will be very disagreeable to have so troublesome a child to look after. However it will only be for a few hours - so it will soon be over - which is a great comfort! ...'Mabel was one of the little girls whom Carroll had photographed. He first met her in 1877 when she was eight years old. Theirmeeting is recorded by Dodgson in his diary for 16 August 1877: "I never became friends with a child so easily or so quickly."Following Dodgson's instruction that his letters were for hereyes only, she refused to allow any of them to be copied andpublished by editors of Dodgson's correspondence.
