HARDY, Thomas (1840-1928). Poet and novelist.
Autograph Letter Signed ('T.H.') on a postcard to his printer, William Maxwell, Max Gate, 18 October 1927. Thanking Maxwell for a correction.
William Maxwell (1873-1957), was managing director of the Edinburgh firm of R. & R. Clark, who were the printers of virtually all of Hardy's books from 1902 onward. See Collected Letters, ed. Millgate, Vol. 7, page 81, where it is noted that the 'correction' relates to the anonymous traditional song 'Annie Laurie'.
