Arranging for his lieutenants and men to be transferred with him when he shifts his flag from the Ranelagh to the Barfleur. '... I Desier you will favour me in not apoynting a Master for that ship untill I have the favour of writeing to you again, wch. I will do by the next opertunity, but am now under sayl goeing into the soundings. ...'Admiral George Byng was the father of Admiral John Byng who was to be executed in Plymouth harbour on the quarter-deck of the Monarque in 1757.
