LISZT, Franz (1811-1886). Hungarian composer and pianist. Autograph Letter Signed in German to 'Hochwürdiger, lieber Cousin', 3 pages 8vo (splitting in the folds professionally repaired), Budapest, 11 March 1882. A good letter of musical criticism. Discussing his correspondent's two sacred works Missa facilis a capella and Consentus sacri breves, explaining that they perfectly fulfil the aim of providing good traditional church music, but suggesting that there is a certain monotony - the 'Kyrie' and 'Christe eleison, for example, being very similar musically. Liszt expresses the hope that whene the works are printed they will enjoy a wide circulation, and tells his correspondent that he is in including with the returned manuscripts an 'Orgelmesse' of his own. [No: 22001] the image is of the second page only.
