CAVOUR, Camillo Benso di (1810-1861). Italian statesman.
Autograph Letter Signed in French to M de la Rive, Rector of the Académie de Suisse in Geneva ('Cher Auguste'), 3½ pages 4to with integral address-leaf, Leri, 3 September 1843. A long discursive letter, touching on many topics, including an article on M de Chateauvieux, his admiration for the Duc de Broglie, the Irish question, and other public and personal matters.
Cavour remarks that the conduct of Daniel O'Connell is only daring because of the patience of his opponents.
There is a seal tear at the margin obliterating two words, a mounting strip at the opposite margin, and some tears in the folds.
