SATIE, Erik (1866-1925). French composer. Autograph Letter Signed on a 'carte-lettre' signed with his calligraphic monogram to [Alexis] Roland-Manuel in Lyons, 1 page 8vo with perforated border, Arcueil, 14 September 1911. With the address on the reverse, an attractive letter with several letters artistically enhanced, on personal and musical matters. The Belgian-born musicologist and composer, Alexis Roland-Manuel (1891-1966) met Ravel in 1911 and became his pupil and close friend. The present letter illustrates his wider acquaintance of French composers even at a young age, mentioning also Roussel, to whom Roland-Manuel offers to introduce Satie. He adds in the second paragraph of the letter that he completed the orchestration (for wind band) of his En habit de Cheval [in riding dress], a work written this year for piano duet and published as such in 1912. '... ...'Letters of Satie are rarely seen on the market.
