LIND, Jenny (1820-1887). Swedish soprano.
Fine early Autograph Letter Signed ('Jenny Lind') in German to Dr Vivanot [in Vienna], 3 pages 8vo, München, 26 October 1846. With a full translation.
A touching letter about the illness of his wife and the possibility of Lind staying with them, showing her Christian beliefs and her thoughtful and caring character.
'... May God keep you upright! In the next life it will be better, and anyone who goes there will be well cared for and will have the best of it. ...'
After great successes in Munich (Sonnambula, Norma, Freischütz and La Figlia del Reggimento), Lind embarked upon a strenuous tour of German cities - Stuttgart, Carlsruhe, Heidelberg, Mannheim, Nüremberg and Augsburg, in all of which she gave performances - before arriving on the 31st December at Vienna, where she found to her great sorrow that Frau Vivanot had died.
