ELVEY, Sir George Job (1816-1893). Organist and composer.
Series of seven Autograph Letters Signed to John Gough Nichols (1806-1873, printer), 23 pages 8vo, with one to Lucy [Nichols] from ?Mrs Elvey and two further letters.

Concerning the preservation of helmets, possible dating from the times of Henry VI and Edward IV, one of which had temporarily gone missing at the marriage of the Prince of Wales. Elvey empashises his interest in such things, asks Nichols for his views, and reports on his discussion with the Dean [of Windsor] about them. He gives news of the interment of a mutual friend (whose books should be sold by Leigh Sotheby & Co) and discusses the visit of a photographer who has asked for details of Elvey's memorial window, which Nichols had designed.
