HOUDINI, Harry [born Erik Weisz] (1874-1926). Escapologist and pioneer aviator.
Postcard-sized photograph of Houdini in his Voisin biplane, signed and inscribed 'Best wishes Harry Houdini 4/1/11' (a little trimmed, traces of mounting to the reverse). Houdini purchased the Voisin in 1909. He toured Australia with it in 1910, achieving the first successful powered flight in that country.
The present card is captioned with the date 15 March 1910, and commemorates his winning the Australian Aero League's trophy.
