TENNYSON, Alfred, Lord (1809-1892). Poet Laureate.
Autograph Letter Signed to Sir W[illiam] Boxall (1800-1879, director of the National Gallery), 1 page 8vo with integral blank leaf and envelope, Farringford, 12 February 1872. Thanking his for the gift of 'the Isaiah' and commenting on it.
'... I find it utterly grand, both prophet & child-cherubin.'
No letters from Tennyson to Boxall are recorded in The Letters, ed. Shannon and Lang (3 vols. 1982 to 1990), and the present example would appear to be unpublished.
