SHACKLETON, Sir Ernest Henry (1874-1922). Explorer.
Menu signed in pencil by Shackleton and 13 others connected with the Nimrod expedition, 4 pages 8vo (detached) on gold-edged card, 13 December 1909. The luncheon, given to celebrate Shackleton's recently bestowed knighthood, served such delicacies as Oeufs Poché d'Erebus, Haricots Verts à la Nimrod, and Gâteau Emily (Shackleton's wife).
Shackleton's name is at the top of the blank final page. The other signatories below are:

Captain John King Davis, first officer on Nimrod.
Lieutenant-Colonel George A. McLean Buckley, joined Nimrod on its outward voyage, returned on Koonya
