WAGHORN, Thomas (1800-1850). Naval office and self-publicist. Letter Signed, 1 page 4to (tattered at the left hand side), 34 Cornhill, 17 July 1847. Rather characteristically presenting a copy of a painting of himself. '... it is a faithful Copy of Picture painted by Sir George Hayer H.M.'s Portrait Painter presented by me to the London East India & China Association, with the addition only of the Gold Medal, presented to me by the Pope, & which I believe is the first, ever given by a Pope, (his own likeness) to a Protestant.'
