Autograph Letter Signed to an unnamed correspondent, perhaps an auctioneer, 1 page 8vo on black-edged paper, Gad's Hill, 5 July no year [dated in pencil in another hand '1870']. Asking him, on her behalf and that of Dickens's daughter Mamie, to try to secure a lamp in a forthcoming sale, perhaps the sale of contents of Gad's Hill. Charles Dickens had died as recently as 8 June 1870. 'Miss Dickens and I wish very much to buy, for ourselves, the Hanging Moderator Lamp, with candlesticks ... But we cannot exceed the price that was paid for it, just lately - which was £13.10.0. Will you, if you can, get if for us at about that price.' [No: 24989]
