A heavy heart 'with seeing Pusey & Newman'

MANNING, Henry Edward (1808-1892). Cardinal-Archbishop of Westminster.
Fine Autograph Letter Signed (initials) to 'My dear Friend', 4 pages 8vo, Lavington, 16 February 1845. Sending papers ('I have kept back the Bp of Tasmania and Newfoundland'), and discussing the welfare of a boy.
'... Cannot Francis Balston nonetheless take him? And yet it must be an older man, and in a home, as the boy is delicate, and yet it must be not his own home, not anything like it. A clergyman's family with a boy of his own or so is what is needed. ...'
'My heart is full and heavy with last week, and with seeing Pusey and Newman. ...
Written in the year that Newman converted to the Roman Catholic church, but before Manning's own conversion.
