PIGALLE, Jean-Baptiste (1714-1785). French sculptor. Autograph Letter Signed ('Pigalle') to a gentleman, 2 pages 4to (irregularly trimmed apparently without loss), no place, 'ce jeudy [10 in another hand?]'. Expressing his gratitude for the prompt delivery of an urgent 'ordinance' [see below] ('l'empressement avec lequel vous vous êtes preté a mes besoins qui sont tres urgent est plus que suffisant'.) Cataloguer's note: The French 'ordonnance' has a variety of meanings, depending on the context. It can mean inter alia a prescription (for medicines), or a legal ruling; in the absence of any context or addressee, I have opted for the latter, as it seems plausible there may be a connection with e.g. a location for a sculpture or monument. [No: 25415] The image is of the second page.
