LAWRENCE, Sir Thomas (1769-1830). Painter and draughtsman.
Autograph Letter Signed to his friend Joseph Farington (1747-1821, landscape painter and diarist), 3 pages 8vo (seal tear in second leaf and remains of mount on verso). Dated at the head in another hand 'March 26 1812'.
Explaining the difficulty of obtaining theatre tickets for a popular production ('The Duke of Devonshire was with me today, and complain'd that he could not get one for some his Friends; so very attractive is this Play.') and asking why Wilkie (presumably David Wilkie) had called on him that day, mentioning Farington's name in his message.
