PARKER, Eric (Frederick Moore Searle) (1870-1955). Author & journalist.
Autograph Letter Signed ('Eric') to 'My dear Aunt Georgie', 2 pages 4to, HÔtel de l'Europe, Venice, 11 October 1922. Explaining that he and Ruth were on holiday with their daughter Betty ('an Italian holiday which we began to plan just twenty years ago'), and commenting on the reception of his book.

'... it is messages like [Lady Willerts'] that I really value. Oddly enough, I have only had three reviews, and though they are long ones, none of the reviewers seem to understand the book. I have had delightful letters from people who are not reviewers, though, and I appreciate them the more when they come ...
'If I were at home I would send you a copy of "Playing Fields", but I can't get a copy here. ... One of my chief hopes is that my publisher will get something back for the immense trouble he has taken over the book. ...'

An explanatory note, perhaps in the aunt's hand, at the head.
