SYDNEY, Henry, first earl of Romney (1641-1704). Politician & army officer. Document Signed, 1 page folio, Office of Ordnance, 23 February 1693. Signed in his capacity of Master-General of the Ordnance, a post he held from 1693 to 1702, ordering payment to the widow of Thomas Glover, engineer, the sum of £26.9.00 over a period of two years. Henry Sydney was one of the 'Immortal Seven' and the author of the letter which invited William of Orange to take the throne in the place of James II. [No: 25789]
