Autograph Letter Signed to H.J. Ford of The Chronicle-Telegraph in Pittsburgh, 2 pages 4to with envelope, The Alvin Theatre, Pittsburgh, postmarked 15 February 1903. Thanking Ford, presumably the newspaper's theatrical critic, for two 'kindly criticisms', with modest remarks.

'... I am not vain about my work nor do I think myself clever & a little encouragement makes me strive all the harder to improve & to please.'

Her hugely successful tours of America began in 1882 and were repeated every few years until her last appearance in 1917, the same year that marked her last appearance in London.
