GEORGE I (1660-1727). King of Great Britain and Ireland. Elector of Hanover. Document Signed (a bold 'George R' at the head) 2 pages from an Establishment Book, large folio on paper (some strengthening at the foot and on the reverse), no date. Written on two sides of a single sheet, the accounts cover the establishments of Portland Castle, Portsmouth, South Sea Castle, Sheerness, Scilly Island, Scarborough Castle, Sterling Castle, Tynmouth [sic] Castle and Upnor, and show the wages received by the officers and men (inclduing chaplains, surgeons etc.) in respect of their daily pay, and giving the total for 365 days. The largest establishment in these accounts (numbered at the head 19 and 20) is Portsmouth, totalling £1,941 8s. 4d., the governor receiving £1 18s. 14¼d. per day and the gunners a shilling each.
