BODLEY, George Frederick (1827-1907). Architect.
Autograph Letter Signed to 'My dear Canon', 1½ pages 8vo (old mounting strip adhering to left hand edge), Park Crescent, Portland Place, 'Monday', no date. Sending him some ideas [no longer enclosed] for the 'organ legends'.

Written between 1886 and 1891 when he lived with his family at Park Crescent. Architectural commissions he was working on during this time included the chapel at Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire for the seventh duke of Newcastle, said to be his favourite project but ending bitterly in his dismissal after a row about overspending. Bodley also designed several important and elaborate organ cases.
