NAPOLEON I (1769-1821). Emperor of the French.
Letter Signed ('NP') in French, to the Duc de Feltre, Minister of War, 1 page 4to, Saint Cloud, 8 April 1813. Concerning the request by General François-Etienne Kellermann (son of Maréchal duc de Valmy) for pensioning-off for reasons of health.
Napoleon states that he has already forgotten Kellerman's foolish behaviour once because of the esteem in which he holds his father, and he wishes to forget it again; he further hopes that Kellerman will 'se rendra digne du nom qu'il porte par sa conduite future et son esprit'. He instructs that Kellerman be ordered to Mayence 'où il sera employé selon les circonstances'.
