MARLBOROUGH, John Churchill, 1st Duke of (1650-1722). Letter Signed to an unnamed correspondent ('My Lord'), 1 page 4to (nicks in the edges, a little worn and creased), no place, 25 February 1718/19. Imploring his correspondent to release Hodges from his office of the Robes, for which he has found a 'very fit' successor, so that he can purchase a post 'more Commodious to His Affairs'. '... [He] is so sensible of your Favours to Him that hee is Ashamed to trespass farther on you Himself. He has lived so long in My family and deserved so well of mee That I am willing to do Him what Kindness I can. ...'
